The photograph depicts part of the original laurel forest on the island of Madeia. The trees here are most of the time shrouded by the fog precipitating on the top of the hill and are densely covered with mosses and lichens. The entire area has an incredibly captivating atmosphere, reminiscent of the mysterious forests in Tim Burton's film Sleepy Hollow.
